Chicago!!!

For Spring Break we had the wonderful opportunity to go to Chicago and visit with Tom's wonderful Grandma Jeanne. She has been (unhappily) moved to a rest home and we haven't been able to see her for many years. Her whole face lit up when she seen Tom. We don't think she knew exactly who we were but she knew we were family. We were able to spend Wednesday with her, then part of Thursday day, and then a lot of the day on Friday with her as well. The kids were troopers and did very good considering we were in a place where they couldn't run and scream, watch cartoons, or any other thing they wanted to.
We are so glad that we were given the opportunity to go and see her and see that she is being well taken care of.

On our second day there we decided to make the 45 min drive into Chicago and go to the Museum of Science and Industry. This was Haylie's favorite. After driving for 2 hrs we finally make it (darn road construction) then we get in and....museum + spring break + school field trips = MADNESS. It was a very cool museum and had a ton of hands on stuff for the kids to do it they wanted to wait in line forever. We then drove down town a little and viewed the Sears Tower and the other structures on our drive.

This was the boys favorite part of the trip. We accidentally discovered a Lego Land Discover Center. Everything was made of legos (a little boys dream come true). Their favorite was Batman and Darth Vader. It was amazing what they could do with Legos!!!

We also took the opportunity to go to the town where Tom lived till her was 12 yrs old. Tom is convinced that the house and yard have shrunk considerably since he lived there, and he was very sad that his favorite candy store (that he would visit before and after school) had closed down. Probably because he moved!!!
