Another School Year

My awesome cousin wrote this poem and I thought I would steal it and share it with you because I feel the same way! Thanks Ginger and I hope you don't mind!

School Days

“School’s out!” I think with glee,
“I get to have the kids with me.”
Swimming pools and a trip to the park,
Hotdogs, tents and up past dark.
There’s so much that we plan to do,
Beaches and camping to name a few.
Summer’s here with time to play,
“I like it best!” I’m heard to say…

The backdoor slams and out they run
Playing in the blazing sun
Games of tag and kick-the-can
“Mother-May-I” “Yes, you can”
“Are we there yet?” and “He touched me, too”
“Mom, there’s nothing much to do!”
Camping and vacation is done
Back to school the children run.

“School’s in!” I think with glee,
“No more having the kids with me.”
No more swimming, no more park
No more staying up past dark.
Reading, sewing, quiet time, too
There’s just so much for me to do.
Winter’s here with time to rest,
I think I like this season best…

The girls started school last Thursday and they both seem to be enjoying their new teachers and classmates. Tate started school this morning. He was up and dressed and ready to go 2 hours before school started (just a little excited I think), he even had his clothes nicely lined out on the couch ready to put on when he woke up. We got to his class he put up his bag and was ready to play.....because that is what school is all about right???
