We have had a very fun, exhausting weekend. It started Tuesday with the kids going to grandmas for a sleepover. I had Cub scout camp Wed. and I had to leave at 6:30 a.m. (to early to drop them off at a babysitters). For the most part the boys had a blast, and the leaders survived with all hair still intact!!! (My goal was to not pull out all my hair that day) That night we picked up the kids, went to my sisters, had a cook out and watched the Hyrum fireworks from her house.
Thursday Tom had the opportunity to work the ticket booth at the University for the fireworks, which in turn got me and the kids in free. We sat on hard seats in the nice HOT sun for 3 hours. I was worried that the kids would be grumpy, bored and drive me crazy, but they surprised me and they were very, very good. They had a hard time understanding why it took FOREVER to get out of the parking lot to get home but other than that they did awesome!!!!
Friday we woke up, packed the car, went to the Hyrum parade, then we went to Bear Lake where we spent the remainder of the weekend with my family. The kids had a blast. We had fun watching all the firework shows that everyone around was putting on. But after midnight we were all in bed trying to sleep and wondering if they were ever going to stop.
Saturday, Kaden, Tate and Kylie never got out of the water. They are my little fish. There was a little area that was separate from the lake (due to the build up of sand) and Kaden pretty much lived there. He finally fell asleep on Tom's shoulder around 4:30 (the time I normally wake him up from naps). He was so tired but he had so much fun. Luckily no one got to terribly sunburned. We all have a few spots here and there where you can tell we missed but nothing too bad!!!! Tate has cute little sunburned triangles under his eyes where we missed and a little strip above his little bottom where he swimsuit kept creeping down occasionally. That night we watched fireworks, again. My dad had bought some but he wasn't able to join us there until Saturday night. We didn't feel it was right to light the fireworks off that he had payed for so we waited.
Needless to say...after 4 nights straight of fireworks it will be nice to be able to put the kids in bed before 11:00 at night and maybe go to bed a little early ourselves;) And we have learned that the kids seem to enjoy the glow sticks more than the fireworks.
We hope you all had a good 4th of July. We are so blessed to live in this wonderful country where we have the freedom of choice. Thank you to all those who continually make this possible for us and to all those who fought for these freedoms that we have and take for granted!
