A pirate of a time

This past weekend we went camping. We all had a blast. The kids (especially the boys) loved sleeping in the tent. The boys didn't even mind the massive wind that I wondered if it would pick us all up and blow us to the water, and the rain at night was relaxing and put us to sleep! (or maybe we were just exhausted from little sleep the night before due to the wind)

Then on Saturday morning after breakfast Captain Jim the pirate showed up (aka grandpa) and sent us on a treasure hunt. And not just a little treasure hunt this one took us from 10:15 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. We all had a blast! We were given 6 coordinates and once we found the place we would find a little treasure box filled with coins and a piece of a puzzle, when we found the last one we put the puzzle pieces together to find the final treasure, which was a key to the actual final treasure. The final treasure box was filled with gold $1 coins. The kids loved (okay adults and kids) loved it. Then on Sunday we had to punish a pirate who had sinned and we beat him till he spilled his guts (aka pinata with candy). Lesson learned...don't sin!!!
Then later on all the kids made marshmallow guns. Great idea, easy, tons of fun, HUGE STICKY MESS!!! The kids (with the help from Great Grandma) decided to surprise Great Grandpa with a bunch of marshmallows flying at him. The last picture is his reaction to getting pelted with a ton of marshmallows by surpise (he didn't even know the kids had made them.

All in all it was a wet, windy, sticky, piratey, wonderful weekend building memories with our kids and families!
